Suzie Wright

I live in the Dales near Askrigg. I make in my workshop at home and in my studio at Farfield Mill, Sedbergh.

I was taught ceramics as a child. This developed into an enduring passion for working in clay.

My ideas come from what I experience everyday, running and walking in the fields and hills where we live. My connection to the outdoors is fundamental to my creative process.

In 2025, I began an art degree. This is taking my ideas and making in new directions.

My latest work began as part of a project to look closely at the flora around my home area. This evolved into an idea to form shapes in clay using the growth pattern of my favourite plants and flowers.

I used Iris flower forms to create the larger pots. I took further inspiration from the seed pods I found this autumn.

The development of this work is on the last page of this website.

Workshops

During my working life I returned to the relaxing experience of creating with clay whenever this felt necessary. I enjoy introducing others to this wonderful material.

If you would like to experience a one to one making lesson please contact me. If you have mobility issues my workshop and facilities are accessible.

I have workshops arranged at Artison in Masham, or you can arrange a private workshop at my studio in Farfield Mill.  Please contact me for pricing.

My availability for the next few years is limited until September 2028. I will still do my best to accommodate you.
